Client Brief:

Good Things Vending is a community-driven and collaborative automation experience dispensing local art, vintage and nostalgia items in Chicago, IL. They transform traditional snack vending machines into small format local art and oddities shops, chock-full of a little something for everyone.

Initially I started working with GTV in 2022 on a robust PR campaign that resulted in profiles on WTTW, Fox 32 Chicago, and a feature on the Kelly Clarkson Show. (That was a HUGE win for me when I was still doing publicity). At the time, they only had two machines in the city. As a result of this highly successful campaign, GTV’s audience on social media increased by nearly 200%, and they were able to expand the business adding three additional machines to their fleet. 

Thanks to the newfound audience the press garnered, Steph (GTV owner & founder) had a video on Instagram go viral at the end of 2023, growing their social following from 8k to nearly 50k followers over the course of a month. She then contracted me in 2024 to develop a social media strategy for GTV’s social channels in order to manage her newfound audience, develop and streamline best practices, and create engagement opportunities to connect with her community while continuing to prioritize audience growth. This included assisting with the creation and launch of a Discord server. I conducted a content audit and built a content library, created a social media calendar and best practices, developed ongoing content series, oversaw the social strategy for two additional machine launches, and assisted with content creation.

KPI’s

  • Nearly doubled her following on Instagram from 50k to 91.5k followers in less than 6 months completely organically 

  • Saw almost 157% increase in engagement on Instagram stories, and 89% increase in engagement on in-feed posts

  • Successfully assisted in the launch of their Discord channel which saw 100+ new members in the first week

  • Created some of their highest-performing content in 2024
